DIY Crafts & Accessories for Kids

Blend creativity and style together and involve your kids in activities that are both fun and purposeful. DIY is great way of getting out the creative side of your little ones, turning old-forgotten, seemingly useless stuff into beautiful works of art. Feed on your child’s innovative skills, and engage them in useful utilization of their time.

Here are some amazingly simple ways of creating some funky items from things that seemed waste until now:

Necklace:

neckpieces

Let’s start with some jewellery. Have you found your little girl admiring baby jewellery online? Well, you may buy them for her, but you may even try and make a few pieces with her all by yourself. Not too difficult, just have to think a bit out of the box, or search for some DIY ideas, and create a self-made necklace, or a bracelet with the helping hand of your daughter. From stones to beads, to shells and buttons; you can use anything and everything and turn it into a stunning piece to adorn her delicate neck.

Headbands:

headbands

Turn a simple hairband into a statement piece, by adding some cool appliques over it or you may work from scratch, get some broad elastic, old fabric pieces, cute bows, colorful buttons; thread and needles and you are good to go. Apply your imagination, take creative inputs from the kid and teach her to make her own headbands. You can always take some inspiration from the net.

Pencil Stands:

pencil stands

When kids are small they have all sorts of pens, pencils and stationery. To keep them all at place, you could make some cool pencil stands. These can be made using, old cold-drink cans, plastic bottles, ice-cream spoons, and what not. Just work on creating an open, deep box, to hold the child’s pencils, crayons etc. Use bright colors and paints to make them appealing.

DIY Pouches:

pouches

Teach your little girl how to knit, and let her knit for herself a pouch to keep her rubber bands and clips, or her stationery. You may even make crocheted pouches. The idea of cutting out old tattered jeans’ pockets to make such pouches is also one you could try out. Make button or zip closures to keep things safely stored in these pouches. This last past, you may keep to yourself to avoid your darling hurting herself.

Brooch/Badges:

Easy, all you need is some good adhesive, safety pins and finally select the choice of the applique. You may create one from some craft ribbons, or paste an old coin on a base that could hold this and be pasted firmly on the pin, beads, baked clay mouldings, an old applique from your own dress... there’s no end to the list. Use anything you think will work. And make some trendy badges to put on your child’s outfits to give them a more appealing look, or to flaunt on their backpacks.

Scarf:

Cut out your old scarf to the size for your little diva, or use an old t-shirt to create one. Check out some cool tutorials online to see how this could be done. You and your daughter will have a great time going around this productive activity. And when a stylish accessory like this will be worn by your girl, be assured to make a statement as DIY are always unique and one of their kinds. Always be on a lookout for new and creative DIY baby accessories online, and the moment something catches your attention, get going with making one by yourself.
