Skin Care Tips for Children During Winter

Skin Care for Babies

The skin is the largest human “organ” that protects you from the bacteria and germs, keeps you warm and cool. During the cold winter months, your precious child’s skin requires extra care and attention.

The first and foremost thing that you, as a parent, must do is to ensure that your child is eating a healthy balanced diet of good food, drinking plenty of water and is exercising. A diet that is composed of fresh fruits and lots of vegetables is great for the skin. Water will keep the skin hydrated and healthy so it is important that your child drinks water at regular intervals even when in school. An active child is a good thing, because it means that there is blood circulation and a healthy digestion, which is a good thing for the skin. The exercise means that they child will be active and sleep properly; this is great for the skin because the cells of the skin repair themselves when the body is resting. The best thing about winters is the longer nights, so take full advantage and get your little ones that extra sleep. The child will wake up well rested and will be more alert in school as-well.

The key to a healthy skin is hygiene and hydration. It is recommended that you ask your children to wash their hands as often as possible to eliminate germs and bacteria that may be passed on from touching things while playing at home, in the park or school. Soaps and detergents that are mild will ensure that their skin will continue to have natural moisture. Products that are strong and harsh will take away the skin’s natural moisturizing oils. Chapped skin needs to be treated to mild soaps with water. Shorter baths and showers are best during the winter because the longer you keep your child in hot water protective oils of the skin will be removed.

Lips also become dry during the cold months of winter and can become chapped. The best remedy is to use lip balm and put a scarf around their neck in such a manner that their lips are protected from the cold wind.

If you have put a heater in your house it will certainly keep you and your child warm but it will also turn the air in your house dry. So apply moisturizing lotion or winter cream generously. Just read carefully to ensure that the products are void of chemicals, perfumes and dyes. If it’s possible get a humidifier to keep the air moist or keep the heating at a low level to avoid skin dryness and to save energy! Make sure that your children wear sunscreen to protect them from the dangerous UV lights.

Lastly make sure that your kid wears Warm Winter Clothes. These days there are many options for Winter Clothes for Kids Online.
