Baby skin is extremely delicate, it becomes all the more vulnerable in winters. It thus becomes all the more essential to take care of your baby’s sensitive skin in this dry season than any other. Baby skin wants more than nuzzling and patting. It needs to be moisturized, cleansed and massaged. It also needs to be kept from contact with anything that can irritate the soft skin.

Gloves & Mittens:
The dry chills tend to take away heat from the body. It is due to this reason that the young delicate skin of babies is fast caught with frostbites in winters. So protect the young one’s hands and feet with warm and soft mittens and socks/booties.
Moisturize:
Before making your baby wear the socks or mittens, apply some moisturizer. Rub your hands first before making contact with the baby’s skin, to warm them up and then apply cream/moisturizer.

Massage:
Give regular massage to the baby before bath,especially during winters. Use coconut or almond or mustard oil for the purpose. Massaging the body generates heat and raises body temperature improving the blood circulation as well.
Nappy cream:
In winters, due to the dry weather, baby bottoms are more prone to rashes. So use a good nappy cream during diaper changes as well at night before sleep.

Breastfeed:
Breastfeed not just satiates hunger, but also transfers heat to the infant’s body. So if you were thinking of switching to bottled feed from breastfeeding now, wait for the winters to pass.
Soft winter fabrics:
Wrapping your baby in woolen clothing is important, but skip the harsh wool. Go for fleece and baby wool. Garments that have work over them, make sure they have soft inner lining.
Gentle wash:
Winter clothes house the maximum germs. It is an easy breeding ground for them. So just because they don’t appear dirty too soon, does not mean you can do away with washing. Wash baby winter wear in soft detergent and lukewarm regularly.

It is a myth that winter sun does not harm. Sunscreen protection is as much required in winters as in summers. So don’t take risk with your little ones delicate skin by ditching sunscreen in this season.
