It is a well known fact that babies grow really fast. And therefore the adorable clothes that you picked up to buy for them after sifting through piles and piles of clothes, would probably not fit them after a few months. And this will continue for quite a few years to come. So parents would often find themselves asking what to do with these clothes.
The baby clothes that parents buy for their cute babies are generally simple to figure out and you can always be gifted to other new or expecting parents. All you have to do is wash them and wrap them nicely. It is anyways recommended to have a new born baby wear slightly used baby clothes as opposed to new ones. Because they have very sensitive skin and hence cannot wear the harsh and stiff new clothes. Some families have a long standing tradition to have the newborn wear clothes of their older siblings and in a way pass on the “mantle” through the generations. Just fold them neatly and pack them in clean and durable plastic bags. If some of your relatives do not mind hand-me-downs, you can gift them the used baby clothes. Since they are not worn out, relatives that are expecting a new born will be happy to receive such welcomed gifts.
But even so the babies will soon outgrow these clothes and the issue still remains of what to do with these clothes.
If your children are all grown-up and if none of your relatives or even friend circle has small children, you can always put them in a nice box and donate them to any charitable organization close to you or even at the local children’s hospital for under-privileged children. If you do some research, you will find that some NGOs will come and pick them up from your home.
The other option you have is to organize a little “garage sale” like they usually do in the west. Just collect all the old clothes that you have at home, not just that of your children but yours also and have them washed and ironed out. People will be more than happy to take them off your hands and pay you as-well. Who knows, it might prove to be a profitable proposition.
Some clothes are very intricately decorated with fancy embellishments, these materials and embellishments can be re-used to make a sweet little handicraft or piece of art. You can also add it on as a patchwork.
Some families also like to gather together all the old clothes of family members and knit a quilt using these old clothes. It is a beautiful thing when you use that quilt because you get to relish all those lovely memories that you associate with those clothes.
