Birthdays are the most memorable part of childhood and children look forward to them all year round. As parents you should make their birthdays that extra special every year. But getting new ideas can be a little bit of a challenge especially since “theme & character” parties are now very passé. BabyCouture brings to you some new ideas that you can try:
Sleepover Make Believe Party
This truly is a special party idea that parents can throw for young kids. This is great for the little ones because they might not be old enough to actually sleepover but will appeal to them as a “theme” party without really being a theme party. You can organize the birthday party anytime around the evening or maybe even just before the children’s bedtime.
You can send out invitation cards in the shape of either a teddy bear or a pillow and this will also give a hint to your plan for the party. In the invitation ask the guests to come in their pajamas and sleeping bags full of their favorite teddy bear or stuffed toy. Commence the party in the middle of your living room on the floor; or if your child’s bedroom is big enough to accommodate everyone there. Play little games like musical pillows, watch movies or maybe even a fun and entertaining karaoke session.
You can serve the children some nice pizza for dinner and have popcorn while watching the movie. Lastly send off the guests with pillowcases filled with goodies.
Beach Party at Home
Children of all ages will love to have a beach birthday party. If you plan a little ahead of time, you can have a beach party right at home. If your child’s birthday falls in the winter no need to worry, just turn up the heat! Send invitation cards with a little twist of the tropical beach or in the shape of a little island. Decorate the house like little beach; you will have to be a little creative for this. If the party is outdoors, arrange for some inflatable pools and set them up for the children to play in. For toddlers you can get them little splash pool. You can also have palm tree or pineapples cut-outs or tiki torches to decorate the place. If the party is indoors you can repeat the same decorations inside as-well.
Organize a great music system and play some of the popular and fun summer songs to get everyone in the mood for the beach party. Play beach games such as Limbo or have a fun treasure hunt; this will be fun all across the ages. Serve the guests tropical fruit juice and ice cream along with the regular food. For party favors you can gift the children sun glasses, lip balm, sand pails with shovels etc.
