When the infant begins to crawl, parents experience a mixed emotion of elation as well as apprehension. Now that the child has begun to move on their own, he’ll move around the house and reach places and get their hands on things that might be accident prone. You can’t always be checking on them, and their new found sense of independence will make them unstoppable. It is therefore very important to childproof your house now (if not already done) and avoid the possibilities of your child unknowingly crawling into any trouble.
Here are a few measures to take in order to make it safe for your baby in the house:
- Now that you know the trouble spots, remove any kind of harmful objects from there. Don’t keep any sharp edged or breakable pieces at the side tables, remove any delicate lampposts from the bedside.

- Do not keep your cosmetics out in the open on your dressing table, for most often that height is sufficiently low for your toddler to reach. Also, if you have drawers below, keep them locked.
- Make sure no cable wires, or any other wires run across floors. Your baby might stumble upon them.
- Use outlet covers to cover all electrical outlets.
- If your furniture is placed up against wall that has windows, Move them a bit to avoid your baby’s little adventure of climbing on to the sills.
- Keep all electrical appliances at a safe distance from your child’s reach and make sure you unplug them after use.
- Keep bathroom doors latched, for the baby may find a lot to hurt them there. Get into the bath tub, slip if the floor is left wet, or swallow any toxic cleaning solution.
