Tips For Baby Care

Tips for Baby Care

Mothers are the busiest people in the world and this article hopes to bring in some respite and order back into their daily routines by offering the right tips of some of the things to do to take care of your baby.

  • Feeding Bottle: If your baby is still on the bottle, than it is important that you maintain them clean and properly sterilized. There are many bottle sterilizing machines available in the market that you can use. Some of them require for you to put them in the microwave while others can be simply plugged in and they will keep the bottles sterilized during the day so that you always have a clean bottle when you need it.
  • Sleeping Care for Baby: It is totally to your better judgment for when to shift your baby to his own cot. If you want you can have you baby sleep with in your bed for the first few months and then shift him or her to their own cot. Just ensure that the baby doesn't feel too hot or cold during the night and that the room is well ventilated. Also check in on them during the night!
  • Baby Clothing Care: During the winter make sure that your baby wears Warm Baby Clothes. You should get some sweaters and woolens that will keep them warm and also protect them from the cold winter winds. Put on sensible clothes because you might have to change dirty diapers and it can be tricky in situations like these to manage all the layers.
  • Summers are easier to manage, buy cotton clothes because they are light and above all comfortable on the baby’s sensitive skin. When you are out and about with your baby, take care to protect their head from direct sun light by keeping it well covered. Ideally you should avoid going out during the hot period of the day, but if you have to venture out, extend the sun-covers of the strollers. Also apply sun-screen lotion that is appropriate to your baby’s skin.
  • Changing Diapers or Nappies: Check every 3 hours, as a minimum, your baby’s bottom to check if it needs to be changed. Babies have their own way of letting you know that they are ready to be changed but we encourage you to check on your own as-well
  • Bath Time: Before you bathe your baby, make sure that you have everything at your disposal; things like a nice clean towel, clothes and nappies. It goes without saying that the water needs to be just right, not too cold nor too hot – 37oC is the correct temp. Dip your elbow and if you are comfortable with the temperature of the water than go right ahead. Avoid using a shampoo, a no-tears soap is what we recommend. Support your baby’s head properly and after washing and drying him, apply a little cream to moisturize the skin.
  • Immunization and Vaccinations: Consult with your doctor and get your baby immunized with vaccines against Measles and Small Pox in the first 3 months and so forth. Please follow the doctor’s instructions with this regards and always take his opinion for all matters related to health and development of your baby.
