Tips for Calming and Understanding a Crying Baby

Tips for Baby Care

When you have a baby you will be on top of the moon. Your joy and happiness will know no bounds. And as parents you will have the responsibility to taking care of your little bundle of joy. The most important role is that of the mother as she will be emotionally close to the baby, particularly during the first six months. And since the baby cannot speak, she will have to understand what her baby needs. A baby cries usually for any of the following reasons – they are hungry, dirty or wet nappy/diaper, they want to sleep or maybe because they are feeling too cold or hot.

There is other reasons as-well that a baby cries for, they might be that the baby is not feeling well or might be teething; for these things there are other noticeable symptoms associated with them, so they are recognizable.

The common reason for a baby to cry in the early days is most likely to be for when they are hungry. They will only stop when they get some milk. Sometimes a mother will misinterpret the crying when a baby is tired and wants to sleep and instead immediately starts feeding the baby. This has the baby crying even more and the mother than begins to feel frustrated because she is unable to understand the problem. For this reason we recommend that you develop a pattern in your feeding. Another way to tell that a baby is hungry is if the baby curls his or her tongue and if the baby wants to sleep they will rub their eyes.

Once you have eliminated food and sleep from your list, the next logical reason for a baby to cry would be their nappy. You can easily smell in case your baby has a dirty nappy or diaper. And if they have a wet nappy the bed-sheet and their clothes will be wet, this is very much visible and simple to figure out. You won’t have to take off the clothes to understand this.

If the baby cries for reasons other than this, than we insist that you pick up your baby and just cuddle and hug them till they feel better. Because sometimes they need some comforting and there is no reason to listen to those people that tell you otherwise. Holding your baby close to you will do no harm to them. It will, on the hand, help them grow emotionally strong and healthy.
