Baby care tips for Monsoon

Along with the relief from hot sunny days, monsoon also brings lot of concerns to mother. The weather during monsoon is very humid and moist which increase the breeding of mosquitoes. These mosquitoes and germs carry many diseases like malaria, dengue etc with them which may affect your little one. So you need to take few precautions for your baby to protect them in this humid weather. Move through these few tips of baby care and get rid of the all the worries.

  1. Be Hygienic: The first most important thing to protect baby from this moist weather is proper hygiene. Give him a bath daily with antiseptic soap. Baby may feel very sweaty during this humid weather; you can sponge the baby to clean him whenever he feels irritating. Rubbing off the sweat is very necessary for baby’s sensitive skin as this will stop the growth of fungal infections, rashes and allergy. It is also advisable to keep the house clean and dry as possible.
  2. Take care of a food you eat: Water borne diseases are very common in monsoon. So you have to be very concerned about the food or water your baby intakes. If the baby is very small, wash the feeding bottles very properly with warm water. If he is not feed dependent then prepare food with boiled water. Clean the bowls and plates very properly. Keep the food covered. Above all the other important is to ask the kids to wash hands every time when they go out or before and after eating food.
  3. Choose the right monsoon dress: Mothers are very precise while buying clothes for kids  in any weather. During monsoon, weather is mixed- hot and cold. So dress your kid with summer clothing when it’s hot and wrap them in warm clothes when it’s cold. This will make the baby feel comfortable. You can do online shopping for an appropriate dress for your kid. Prefer full sleeves clothes to get rid of breeding mosquitoes.
  4. Avoid long outing in monsoon: The babies are very sensitive and their immune system is not very strong. So avoid taking them out for long time during this season to protect them from communicable or other monsoon diseases like cold and flu. You can also contact a doctor for vaccination of your kid before monsoon starts.
  5. Some checks before monsoon: Keep some of the medicines stored with you that are important in monsoon. Cold and flu medicines should be kept handy but concern a doctor before giving any dose. You should also perform a pre monsoon check in your house and especially in baby’s room. Electrical wiring should be proper.
  6. General care: You should take care that your little one should not wear wet nappies if he is too small. He should not wear wet socks Tell kids to stay away from stagnant and standing water. Trim their nails once a week. Little baby girls may wear leggings and Stockings to protect them from mosquitoes bite.
