Tips on How to Keep Your House Warm for Kids this Winter

Tips to Warm your House

Winter means a season of short days and long nights. The cold weather forces us to change our daily life routines because in some areas the cold can be severe while in others it is slightly milder. They also say that when it gets cold, it gets cold for everyone hence schools, shops and offices all change their timings to help us cope with the weather.

We all feel comfortable at home sitting in our living rooms with a nice warm blanket in front of the fireplace or a heater with a lovely cup of hot chocolate in our hands. But sometimes our houses remain chilly inside even with all these things and children are most susceptible to the cold even if they are wearing Warm Winter Kids Clothes. Here are some tips of how to keep your house warm:

Weather proofing your house by insulating the roof is the first step to ensuring a warm home because as you know, hot air rises and therefore all the heat would escape from the roof. Once you have the insulation in place, you will have to check for holes or cracks that might allow in cold air. Plug these holes to keep your home warm. The other most common place that allows cold air to enter are windows and door frames, weather proof these to keep your house insulated. If you cannot do this yourself get a professional to come and do the job for you.

Once your house is all weather proofed, you will have to raise the temperature of your home. You can do this by getting an electric heater or with a fireplace. Choose from either the two depending on your convenience.

Keep all the doors and windows shut. It is usually the front door of the house that opens the most and results in the heat escaping you house. When you have the heating switched on, even if a door or window is slightly open, the house will not heat as sufficiently and effectively as you would like. Not only will you the weather make you feel cold, but the large electric bill will surely get you cold!

Now that you have secured your roof, doors, windows and walls you will have to pay attention to the flooring. Stepping out of bed onto a cold floor is very uncomfortable therefore we recommend that you cover the floors as much as possible with rugs or a large carpet. There are some great floor cushions available in the market. They will give you a warm feeling and keep your house warm as-well.

Try these tips to stay warm, cozy and comfortable this winter.
