“The preparations for her party began 2 months in advance. The best banquet hall was booked.  We had taken a lot of pains to design a Barbie cake for her (for she loves her dolls probably more than us). From balloons to return gifts and delectable snacks, everything was arranged. All her friends from the neighborhood, school and dance classes had been invited. But on the day of the party, she refused to be a part of her own party. We eventually called off the celebrations.”

This is the story this lady in the supermarket yesterday narrated to me when I asked the reason of her sobbing while buying some really beautiful baby dresses. She had forgotten to buy for her princess a new birthday dress. I pitied her but she pitied her daughter.

Kids don’t bother themselves by keeping too much on their minds. But what’s on it stays there and they get paranoid if that certain thing isn’t happening their way. A birthday party is how big an event does not matter; only the fun and play does. And well, in this age and time, for little girls their birthday dress too!

So for all the parents who have young divas at home, here are a few tips to select  perfect baby dresses for birthday parties:

1. Take her opinion/Understand her choice: A girl, who has already celebrated 1 or 2 birthdays before, has probably started forming her own preferences regarding clothes (girls grow up too soon in that department). It is therefore necessary to know what she wants, and if she’s expecting something in particular or not.
2. Keep the comfort & convenience in mind: While the little girl may make the choice of her dress based on its look part, it is the parents who have to consider whether the stuff/fabric and style of the dress is not one that may harm their little ones sensitive skin. Also the dress should be such that it is easy for the child to carry and move around without a trouble.
3. Pick up the right accessories to go with the dress: Accessories can add an unmatched charm to even a plain dress. It can also further the style quotient of an already trendy dress. But wrong accessories can do exactly the opposite. So pick up cute accessories like headbands or a hat, a stylish belt or a little sling bag that goes with the dress well. These days floral tiaras are quite popular among young girls. Online baby accessories shopping could be a smart idea to get everything you need.
4. Match the perfect pair of ballerinas/sandals: The shoes play the same role as the accessories. Actually, more. You may do without any accessorizing but not sans the footwear. Pick up comfortable, high gripping ballerinas or sandals or boots to go with your girl’s birthday party dress.
5. Dress trial before the actual day is a must: Making her try the dress once before the actual day of the party would eliminate the chances of any trouble with the dress on that day. If the child’s not too comfortable, you will still have time to do some fresh shopping. Or if there is need of some alterations, you could get that done too.
