Healthy Eating Habits In Your Toddler

If you are parenting a toddler, you must have gone at your wits end by now trying to feed him or her. This daily struggle between you and your child can make you exhausted and can also increase your kid’s fuss about food. So, it is first and foremost important to end the war during feeding. Rather than forcing your little one to eat, it is far easier to make minor twists to make food look interesting and tasty which then will be loved by your toddler. BabyCouture has some healthy and useful tips you can follow to ensure proper growth and development of your toddler.

Toddlers really enjoy their new found freedom to move around and explore. They are no more like infants who will sit in one place, fiddling with something while you can feed them. If you want to inculcate healthy eating habits in your toddler then you have to make a start with yourself. The first change you can start with is by making a meal time for the entire family. Having at least one meal together ensures bonding and conversations that will make the meal time a pleasant experience. It is this time when your toddler feels happy and relaxed that you can introduce healthy foods that will otherwise be refused by your baby. Also, do not forget to add some color to the food like; adding turmeric or cumin which will boost your little one’s appetite.

Children love to imitate their elders so they like to nibble food and eat on their own. Give them liberty to eat on their own from time to time. You can give finger foods and snacks in between meals that your kid will enjoy. Keep these snacks, healthy which will help your child grow. As parents it is also essential that you give some amount of ownership to your baby. Let him or her decide on the quantity of food he or she wants to eat. Infact, there will be days when your child will finish the whole meal, again, there will be days when he or she will not eat that much.

To introduce healthy eating habits in your toddler, add finely chopped vegetables to his or her food and also grate cheese on the meal. This will add both color and flavor to the meal. If your little one enjoys non vegetarian food, then try and add vegetables to the meatballs you serve since, it is easy to hide any vegetable in meatballs. If you have difficulty in convincing your toddler to have fruits or nuts, then you can make pancakes adding fruits and nuts in them. Also in summers, fruit smoothies are fun and custard with fruit slices will be an awesome cooling desert.

So, be a good role model and have a balanced diet daily adding right quantity protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals while avoiding fried and junk food, then, your toddler will learn to eat healthy without creating any fuss about it.
