Have a look at what moms of school going kids dread about the back to school phase!

Bedtime

Family waking up

Vacation means the bedtime is gone for a toss. Even mothers who maintain a strict bedtime schedule for school days let their kids have their way for this short span of time. If only it means less crying to deal with, it suits them best. But once the school reopens, the bedtime schedule has to be maintained again. This means dragging the kids away from the TV and forcing them into bed, a tough job!

Getting Up Early

waking up

Winters are all about lazing in your quilts till mid morning and have a warm breakfast in bed. Alas, this is only a dream once the school reopens. The ‘sleeping till you are tired of it’ schedule can no longer work as we have to reach the school before the bell rings! Its a task for mothers to get the kids out of bed, something that is dreaded by all!

Packing Lunches

What have the kids been eating for lunch during the winter break? Anything that they could get hold of, or manage to prepare themselves. Which obviously involved tons of unhealthy stuff but its only few days and its OK. But back to school you have to pack them lunches and that too nutritious ones. Else you’ll be bombarded with questions about your kid’s nutrition. Who wants that? So get up and cook up!

Pick Ups and Drop Offs

pick ups

Though you may be a sane driver otherwise but in the vicinity of the school where the cars are jam packed, you lose all sense. Its probably the place where you’ll find people parking anywhere, even behind your car or may go the extra mile to block all routes by stopping in the middle of the road. Now that’s what elevates your urge to swear, something you won’t want your kid to set his ears on!

Tidying Up Kids

bathing

Winter holidays leave less question on whether or not your kid is taking a bath everyday. Obviously, that’s out of question. You don’t want to deal with a sulking kid early in the morning but that was vacation time. You’ll have to force him to tidy up on school days and also get the nails and hair trimmed, so much effort!

Arranging Uniforms

Your kids spent the vacation wearing the same pajama and pullover and you didn't bother. Its winters and old clothes feel cozy but the school doesn't think that way! You have to make sure your kid is wearing a clean and ironed uniform, that means doing laundry frequently. And yes, the socks have to match, just because your kid got his hands on one blue and one orange sock he can’t wear it. That leaves you with no option but to keep the entire outfit ready for morning, well in advance!

Homework

homework..

Back to school days means back to daily homework. Which mother loves to run after her kids in order to get him to finish off his homework? Not many! Vacation was a good way to wiggle out of the responsibility of finding sharpened pencils and decent sized erasers, but gone are those days. Your evenings are going to be busy with stationery and a hard to manage kid, we hate back to school days!

General Obligations

busy mom

Vacation period is so much relaxed but that is not so with the school days. You’ll have so much to remember or rather forget that you have no idea how the days fly by! From sports meet to conferences to birthday parties, you have a lot to manage. Your day will be jam packed with the never ending ‘to-do’ list with no personal assistant to pitch in, that’s sad!

When you look at all these points, you’ll realize vacation is not that bad after all. Sadly you have taken too long to realize this but nevertheless, the summer break is a few months away. Don’t dread that now!
