Kids will learn from you. Set an example for the kids to replicate the right behaviors. Volunteer yourself and watch them do the same. Every child has some positives, some talents that can be put to use. Maybe he is good at English, he can teach some language concepts to the slum children around who don’t have access to education. Maybe your little girl loves to look after plants and water them. She may extend her services to the community park in your neighborhood. Just find out their talents, appreciate them and encourage to use these for the betterment of the society!

Ask your kids what gets them truly excited and you are up for a list of activities. At least one of them could be put to community building. Your child loves to play basketball, ask him to teach this art to a group of special kids at a special school. Seeing the joy on their faces will give them a satisfaction that will be priceless! Is your little one a tech savvy kid? Put it to use by volunteering at a charitable vocational training center and enable someone earn their living.

It is not necessary to start big or take a long leap. Taking small steps towards a service is good enough. Don’t force your child to sing at a grand fundraiser, singing to his ill grandparents to make them smile will also be great. Find your child’s potential and encourage them to use it for public service. Don’t be old school with them, it might put them off. Instead look for creative ways to direct their talents.
