Use warm/lukewarm water only

A baby’s body is really delicate and sensitive, along with your love and care there body needs warm water too. Bathing in cold water tub will be a big mistake, avoid to have one. You need to be really careful about the water before putting him into the tub. Check the temperature of the water putting your elbow inside the tub. This is one best measure to check the water. The water should not be very hot or very cold, according to the season, if it is cold let the water be warm and if the weather is hot let the water be lukewarm. Carefully place your baby inside for a good bath.

Use clean fresh and low mineral content water

You cannot let your baby touch a water with high mineral content, that would be harmful for his skin. So you need to be really careful about the quality of the water you’ll be bathing him into. If you live in an area where comes hard water then your task is to neutralize it for your baby by filtering it. And never allow extended baths, or baths for a very long time even if your baby loves the tub as prolonged bath can make his skin dry.

Do not put baby in running water

Running water can be too hot or too cold so never ever place your baby in running water. Fill the water in the tub, mix it well, double check the temperature and then put your baby inside it.

Do not overfill the tub

Filling the tub to a proper point is another thing mothers should keep in mind. No matter how moths old your baby is the water level should not be beyond his waist in his sitting position.

Support baby’s neck and head in the tub

A tub is an ideal think for a baby to get his bath but since he is a baby and new to everything you’ll have to take proper care of his position in the bath tub. You’ll have to be extra careful with his neck and head. Do support it well.

Use no slip precautions in bath tub and bathroom floor

Any slip in the tub will be highly dangerous for your baby so make sure you get a proper bathing tub for him. Make sure you get a baby tub with no slip sides or ends. Be careful with the bathroom floors, make sure it is not wet.

Do not let baby stand in the tub

Your baby might develop the wish to stand in the tub as he is growing, or in is in the stage of learning to stand but do not encourage this activity of his in the tub as it can be really dangerous to him. And also don’t forget to have bathroom mats in the bathroom to minimize the risk of slipping.

Use baby friendly soap and shampoo
